PAM is built for sharing, everyone in your family sees the same calendar and task list. But sometimes you've got something that's just for you: a surprise birthday plan, a personal appointment, a note you'd rather not put on the family fridge.
That's what Private is for. Mark any event or task as private and it becomes visible to you and only you, nobody else in your family can see it.
Making something private
When you're creating or editing an event or a task, look for the Private toggle (it's the one with the little 🔒 lock icon).
On an event, flip on "Private event"
On a task, flip on "Private task"
Heads up: the Private toggle only shows up for the person who created the item. If someone else made an event or task, only they can decide whether it's private.
You can also ask PAM to create or manage private items, just say so clearly ("keep this just for me", "don't show this to the family"). PAM only ever sees your own view, so it helps with your private items but won't reveal another member's to you. It won't guess either: a doctor's appointment isn't automatically private.
What "private" actually does
✅ Only you can see it. It won't appear on anyone else's calendar or task list — not even the account owner's.
🔒 You'll spot the lock. Private items show a small lock icon on your calendar, and a "Private event" / "Private task" line in the detail view.
📧 In your summary email, your private items still show up with a little [private event] / [private task] tag, but never in anyone else's.
Private vs. Shared events
For events, Private and Sharing are opposites, and you can only pick one. A private event is hidden; a shared event goes out to others with a link and RSVPs. Try to turn on one while the other's active and PAM will nudge you to switch the first off. Tasks don't have sharing.
