Some things aren't events or tasks. The wifi password nobody can ever find and grocery lists are the usual examples, along with whatever list the household is currently running. Notes are where those live.
Notes are shared with your household by default, and any note can be made private to you.
Adding a note
Open Notes in PAM.
Tap Add note.
Give it a title and start typing.
Notes save as you type, so there's no Save button to look for.
What goes in a note
The toolbar at the bottom of a note has bold and italic, plus two things worth knowing about.
Checklists. Tap Add checklist and your note becomes a tickable list. Good for the supermarket, or the camp packing list you use every term. Ticked items stay in the note rather than disappearing, so the same list works again next time.
Images. Tap Add image to put a photo in a note. Most people use it for the thing that only exists on paper, like the class contact list that came home in a school bag. Images can be up to 8MB.
Images are the one part of a note that needs a connection. The rest of a note you can write offline and it syncs when you're back.
Pinning and duplicating
Pinned notes sit in their own block at the top of the list, so the weekly shop doesn't sink under everything else.
To reuse a note, open it, tap the ⋯ menu and choose Duplicate. Handy when last term's packing list is nearly right for this one.
Private notes
Notes are shared with your household by default, so everyone sees the same list. Some notes aren't for the family fridge though, and birthday present ideas are the obvious one when the person they're for can see the same list.
A private note is visible to you and nobody else in your household, including the account owner.
Making a note private
Open the note.
Tap the ⋯ menu.
Choose Make private.
The same menu says Make public when you want to share it back.
💡 You can turn on Make private before you've typed a word. The note is private from its first save, so a surprise party plan is never briefly visible to the household while you're writing it.
Spotting a private note
A private note shows a lock icon in your notes list, and a lock beside the ⋯ menu when it's open, with "Private note, only you can see it".

Deleting a note
Open the note, tap the ⋯ menu, choose Delete note and confirm.
Frequently asked questions
Who can see my notes?
Everyone in your household, unless a note is private. Private notes are visible only to you, not even to the account owner.
Can my Village connections see my notes?
No. Notes stay inside your household. A Village connection only ever sees events and tasks you've tagged them in, never your notes. See Connect with another PAM Account using your Village.
If I make a shared note private, can people still see it?
No. It disappears from everyone else's notes list straight away, including for anyone who had already read it.
Can I write notes offline?
Yes, apart from adding images. Text and checklists work offline and sync when you're back on a connection. Adding an image needs a connection at the time you add it.
Do my notes sync across devices?
Yes. Notes are saved to your PAM account, so your phone, tablet and desktop stay in step.
Can PAM write a note for me?
Yes, ask for one the way you'd ask for anything else, for example "add a note with the camp packing list". PAM only ever sees your own view, so it can help with your private notes but won't show you another member's.
